As part of the Jobs & Skills pillar and the Resilience pillar of the Real Estate Industry Transformation Map 2025, CEA worked with the real estate agency industry stakeholders and academics to review and enhance the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) ecosystem. The aim is to have a CPD ecosystem to support RESs to raise their professionalism and provide quality service to their clients.
In May 2023, CEA announced a series of enhancement measures to the CPD ecosystem based on recommendations by the Project ADEPT (Advancing and Enhancing Professionalism and Training) workgroup. One of the measures is a tighter accreditation criteria and course instructional design requirements for CPD courses. Under this measure, CEA will work with course providers to raise the quality of courses and trainers and enhance the learning experience for RESs.
To encourage CPD trainers to refresh and keep their training content up-to-date, CEA and the Central Provident Fund Board (CPFB) jointly organised a webinar on CPF policies and schemes relating to property purchase, which was attended by 39 trainers who were offering CPD courses on CPF policies for property transactions.
The topics covered in the webinar included CPF Housing Limits for different types of housing and loans, the CPF refund process when selling an existing property and buying another, negative sale scenarios, and the Home Protection Scheme. Prior to the webinar, attendees were provided with self-reading material covering a basic understanding of how CPF provides for the basic needs of retirement in the form of housing, healthcare and retirement income, and the considerations of using CPF when buying a home.
More than 80% of the webinar attendees provided feedback that they found the webinar useful for them as a CPD trainer, and that they would be interested to attend similar webinars in the future. They also gave a rating of 4.63 out of 5 for webinar effectiveness and 4.56 out of 5 for trainer effectiveness.
CEA will continue to work with relevant government agencies to organise similar programmes to support CPD trainers in their training, and in turn they will be able to impart useful knowledge to RESs through CPD courses and promote a continuous learning mindset.
