Get ready for the renewal exercise starting 1 November 2021

RES renewal

Sep 2021 - 4 min read

CEA will be conducting the annual licence and registration renewal exercise for Estate Agents (EAs) and Real Estate Salespersons (RESs) from 1 to 30 November 2021.

Here are the things you need to note to ensure that you’re ready for your renewal:

1. Fulfil your Central Provident Fund (CPF) MediSave contribution by 31 October 2021

CEA-registered RESs must fulfil their CPF MediSave contributions to take part in the renewal exercise. Check your outstanding MediSave liabilities and payment status via the CPF Board’s website or contact the CPF Board at 1800-227-1188. Alternatively, you may also check on your CPF MediSave fulfilment status via e-services.

Those in financial difficulty may approach the CPF Board to work out an instalment plan to pay for this year’s MediSave contributions. To do so, RESs may submit a request for instalment payment via “my cpf Online Services” on the CPF Board’s website under “My Requests” or contact the CPF Board at self-employed@cpf.gov.sg.

If the CPF Board approves the instalment plan, CEA will consider the MediSave contribution requirement as being met for the renewal of RES registration for 2022.

2. Fulfil your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) cycle requirements by 31 October  2021

RESs must complete a minimum of six (6) credits, of which four (4) of these credits must be from courses related to Professional Competencies and two (2) credits must be from courses related to Generic Competencies, for your 2021 CPD cycle.

You can check your CPD fulfilment status by logging in to My CPD Portal or via e-services1.

For the list of upcoming Professional Competency CPD courses, please visit the CPD Course Directory

As for Generic Competency CPD courses, Key Executive Officers (KEOs) can assess and decide on the relevance of the courses taken by their RESs, and ensure that the award of CPD credits for Generic Competencies comply with CEA's requirements as set out in the CPD Guidelines.

RESs are to seek their KEO’s approval for the award of CPD credits for courses under Generic Competencies.

The CPD status will be updated every two working days.

3. Submit your renewal application between 1 and 30 November 2021 (for licence and registration renewal)

For EAs, please submit your licence renewal application via the Advanced Estate Agencies System (ACEAS) using CorpPass between 1 and 30 November 2021.

For RESs, please submit your registration renewal application via ACEAS using your SingPass between 1 November and 30 November 2021. Please ensure that your EA submits your registration renewal application to CEA by 7 December 2021.

Advanced Estate Agencies System (ACEAS)

With enhanced system capabilities and an improved user interface, ACEAS offers KEOs and RESs the following benefits:

a. CEA will be able to approve the renewal applications in two (2) to three (3) weeks, compared to four (4) to six (6) weeks previously, for those applications that meet all the eligibility requirements. Upon approval, the validity periods of the renewed EA licences and RES registrations, subject to EA’s renewal licence approval, will be reflected immediately on the records of the EAs and RESs respectively in the CEA Public Register.

b. With auto-population of data fields from MyInfo and past renewal applications, you can save about five (5) minutes for every application form submitted.  CEA also retrieves the EA’s professional indemnity insurance details (if available) from the insurance brokers – AVA Insurance Brokers Pte Ltd and SingCapital Pte Ltd – and pre-fills your EA renewal application form.

c. You can refer to the one-stop dashboard to view important information about the status of your CPF MediSave contribution and CPD fulfilment.

d. You will also get timely notifications on the status of your applications as ACEAS will send you email notifications at the following key stages of the application process:

i. When the RES has submitted the application to the EA
ii. When the EA has submitted the application to CEA
iii. If CEA has returned the application to the EA for amendment or clarification
iv. When CEA has approved the application
