Introduction of CPD Training Roadmap in October 2013
To further enhance the CPD scheme, CEA introduced the CPD Training Roadmap which was developed in consultation with the industry and training providers. It is a comprehensive framework to guide KEOs and salespersons in building their capability and professionalism in a structured manner. The training roadmap took effect from the 2014 CPD cycle which commenced on 1 October 2013.
Under the new training framework, core subjects are grouped into three categories based on the key knowledge areas needed by salespersons when conducting estate agency work in property transactions and by KEOs in managing and supervising salespersons under their charge. The three core CPD course categories are:
- C1: Professional Ethics, Estate Agents Act and Regulations
- C2: Laws, Government Policies and Regulations related to estate agency work
- C3: Practice-related knowledge and issues

Under the new Roadmap, all KEOs, practising directors/partners and salespersons must attend at least one core CPD course under each of the three categories in the Roadmap over three consecutive CPD cycles. Those who fail to fulfil this new training requirement will not be able to renew their licence and registration at the end of the third CPD cycle. This new requirement is in addition to the minimum requirement of obtaining 6 CPD credit hours per CPD cycle. Failure to comply will affect their registration and may lead to removal from the Public Register.
