Celebrating Excellence in the Real Estate Agency Industry

Last month, the best of the real estate agency industry were honoured at the Singapore Estate Agents Association (SEAA) SG Real Estate Agents Excellence Awards.  Recognising the efforts of outstanding salespersons who have demonstrated a commitment to service excellence and good sales performance, the awards celebrate the professionalism that the industry aspires to.

Said Mr Adam Wang, President of SEAA, “Winning this industry level award reinforces a real estate salesperson’s sales achievement and commitment towards providing quality services to their clients. Recipients of the award see the importance of standing out in the industry and this will encourage fellow salespersons to strive for excellence and participate in the awards the following year.”

Gracing the hybrid SEAA SG Real Estate Agents Excellence Awards event was Mr Tan Kiat How, Senior Minister of State (SMS) for National Development and Communications and Information.

In addition to acknowledging the salespersons who received the Outstanding Youths, Rookies and Seniors Achievers awards, as well as the achievement awards for sales performance, SMS Tan also spoke about the progress of the industry’s transformation to meet the expectations of consumers and the demands of the future economy.

Key to industry transformation is client-centricity and service excellence, which in turn engenders consumers’ trust. SMS Tan highlighted several initiatives by CEA and the industry that aim to help bolster consumer confidence in the industry, such as the Transaction Records Initiative and the upcoming prototype digital platform that can verify online property listings.

The Importance of Digitalisation

The latter, which is being developed by the Alliance for Action on Accurate Property Listings, seeks to reduce the frustrations faced by consumers and salespersons because of fake and/or duplicate listings as well as better protect consumers from property-related scams.

SMS Tan also highlighted the importance of digitalisation and its impact on productivity,and commended the industry on having invested in and embraced the use of digital tools and social media in their work.  

He stressed that skills development and taking charge of one’s learning was critical in building a pool of knowledge that would allow salespersons to advise their clients more professionally,and mentioned Project ADEPT (ADvancing and Enhancing Professionalism and Training), a collaborative study by CEA and industry stakeholders, as an initiative that will guide the industry on the required skillsets, competencies and knowledge areas necessary for the future.

The findings and recommendations from this study will be shared in early 2023.

These initiatives, along with the Real Estate Industry Transformation Map (ITM) 2025, will build on the foundation of professional development and client-centric service delivery.

Through close collaboration and partnership between the industry and government, the industry will be transformed into one that upholds higher standards of integrity and competence, as demonstrated by the awards winners in the various categories.
